Fall 2026 Zoom and Microsoft Teams Interface Updates

Zoom and Microsoft are introducing interface updates designed to make Zoom and Microsoft Teams easier to navigate. While the appearance and location of some controls may change, the familiar meeting and collaboration features used by the Drexel community will remain available.

This article provides an overview of the upcoming changes and links to additional information from Zoom and Microsoft.

Zoom web portal updates

Zoom is updating the web portal interface to more closely match the Zoom desktop app. Users may notice changes to the appearance, navigation, and organization of features and settings.

Updates include:

  • A redesigned web home experience
  • A universal header and simplified navigation
  • A product waffle menu

Until August 26, you can preview the updated interface by selecting Try New Experience at the top of the Zoom web portal. You can switch between the current and new interfaces during the preview period.

Microsoft Teams updates

Microsoft is also updating the Teams interface, including changes to meeting controls and how users access commonly used meeting features.

Updates include:

  • Redesigned in-meeting controls
  • The ability to customize the meeting toolbar
  • Improvements to previewing and presenting shared content

No action is required to prepare for these updates.

If you teach, present, or host important meetings, Drexel IT recommends becoming familiar with the updated interfaces and controls before your sessions.
