Body

Reset your Drexel main account password using Microsoft's self-service password reset tool.

Note: To use self-service password reset, you must have previously set up multifactor authentication (MFA) and at least one verification method for your account. If you can't reset your password because MFA isn't configured or you no longer have access to your registered verification methods, contact the IT Help Desk for assistance.

RESET YOUR PASSWORD

  1. Go to passwordreset.microsoftonline.com.
  2. Enter your Drexel email address, this looks like abc123@drexel.edu.
  3. Enter the Captcha characters, and then select Next.
  4. Choose your preferred verification method.
  5. Complete the verification process using your selected verification method.
  6. Enter and confirm your new password, and then select Finish.

PASSWORD REQUIREMENTS

Your new password must:

  • Be between 10 and 32 characters long.
  • Include characters from at least three of the following four categories:
    • Lowercase letters (a–z)
    • Uppercase letters (A–Z)
    • Numbers (0–9)
    • Symbols (for example, @, #, $, %, &, !)
  • Not include your name or Drexel username.
  • Differ from your previous password by at least three characters.
  • Not be a password you have used previously.

IF YOU USE A DREXEL LEGACY PASSWORD

Some older Drexel services still use a Drexel legacy password. If you use those services, you should change your Drexel legacy password separately through Drexel Computer Accounts Management.

PASSWORD SECURITY RECOMMENDATIONS

Drexel IT recommends using a unique password for every account you own. Avoid reusing passwords, especially for sensitive accounts such as banking, email, and online shopping.

If you have difficulty remembering passwords, consider using a reputable password manager to securely store your passwords behind a single master password.
