Data Request

What Is a Data Request?

data request is a request for information pulled from Advance to support university advancement work such as outreach, reporting, analysis, stewardship, or strategic planning. All data requests should be submitted and handled centrally  to ensure accuracy, consistency, and appropriate data use.

You should submit a data request when you need:

  • A list of constituents, gifts, or allocations for solicitation, outreach, reporting, or analysis
  • Information that is not readily available through Advance lists or reports or Tableau
  • Data combined or filtered in a specific way to answer a business question

Submitting a data request helps ensure you receive reliable, well‑structured data that supports your goals while adhering to appropriate data governance and privacy standards.

Before submitting your request, consider best practices to help insure a successful request.
