Computer Accounts

OVERVIEW OF SERVICE

Computer accounts are the key to electronic services at Drexel; virtually all resources require a current userID and password to access them. Drexel IT provides accounts for all University-wide resources to students, faculty, and professional staff. Other departments may issue accounts used to access their own services.

All accounts issued by IT use the same "user ID" made up of your initials followed by a number. When your accounts are first set up they will all use the same password, but you can change each account's password individually.

Drexel accounts are organized into three main groups: Common, Add-On, and Administrative Accounts.

Common Accounts

Common Accounts are automatically issued to students and Drexel-paid faculty, professional staff.

Account Name Used For
Drexel Domain A domain account is a user account that is authenticated and managed centrally within a computer network domain.  You Drexel Domain account is used to provide access to the Drexel network as well as to secured computers, file servers, Office 365, SharePoint sites, and other Windows-based services.  It is stored and managed in our Azure Active Directory which allows us to provide Single-Sign On (SSO) capabilities through the Drexel Connect service
Drexelone Your Drexelone account is what provides access (through Drexel Connect) to all of the DrexelOne services such as BannerWeb, Drexel Learn, Online course materials, and more.

Add-On Accounts

Drexel IT offers the ability for departments to purchase add-on subscriptions for unpaid employees and volunteers who are not automatically assigned access to a Drexel Mailbox or Microsoft Office 365 services.  More information is available on our Software and Cloud Services page.

Administrative Accounts

Administrative Accounts are used to access university-wide business systems. They are only provided to employees with specific business needs and must be requested by a department head.
These systems use an Oracle (Internet Native Banner) password. For inquiries such as password resets or to schedule training, please consult your administrative contact or the system administrator.
