OBJECTIVE
Installation of Code42 Crashplan on a Drexel-owned device.
ENVIRONMENT/APPLICATION
Code42 Crashplan
PREREQUISITE
- User must be a CrashPlan subscriber. Departments can find information on how to subscribe and appropriate fees on the CrashPlan service catalog page. Enrollments can be made by selecting the option to the right.
- Users running a Windows Operating System (Windows 7 or 10) will need the Software Center application installed on their Drexel-owned computer in order to install the software.
- Users running a Mac Operating System will need to be enrolled in Self Service for MacOS in order to install the software on their Drexel-owned Mac.
- For either Operating System, if you are off-campus, you will need to connect to the Drexel VPN to install the software. (VPN is not required for using the software, only for installation.)
PC INSTALLATION STEPS
- Open the Software Center application. It can usually be found under Start > All Programs/All Apps > Microsoft System Center.
- Click on the Code42 CrashPlan tile in Software Center, and then choose "Install." If you do not see the tile available, close Software Center, wait five minutes, and then re-open it. If you still do not see it, contact the Help Desk, providing your Computer Name.
MAC INSTALLATION STEPS
- Open the Self Service application. It can usually be found within the Launchpad (gray icon in the dock that looks like a rocket ship).
- Click on the Code42 CrashPlan box, and choose "Install." If you do not see the application available, check and make sure your userID appears in the top right corner of Self Service. If it is not your userID, you might need to contact the Help Desk or your local IT support team for assistance.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Once the installation has been completed, please wait five minutes before attempting to open the application. Once you open Code42 CrashPlan and sign in using DrexelConnect, you can either Set Up a New Backup (if you are a new user or if you have an additional computer that needs to be backed up) or Replace an Existing Device (if you receive a replacement computer or if your computer has to be re-imaged).
